If you’ve ever asked yourself, "Where can I find reliable, high-quality furniture suppliers in China?"—you’re not alone. As someone who has worked in the furniture industry for over 20 years, helping European buyers source dining chairs and dining tables, I’ve visited countless furniture cities across China. Each region has its unique strengths, specialties, and market dynamics. Whether you're a buyer for a retail chain in Germany, a furniture product manager sourcing for your Amazon store in the UK, or a procurement officer managing projects across Europe, this article will serve as your go-to guide.

Why China Furniture Cities Matter

China’s furniture industry is not only the largest in the world by volume but also incredibly diverse. According to the China National Furniture Association (CNFA), over 50 regional furniture clusters exist in China, each focusing on different materials, styles, or functions. These clusters—commonly called "furniture cities"—offer rich ecosystems of suppliers, factories, material providers, and logistics hubs.

Buying from these furniture cities allows you to:

  • Compare a wide range of styles and price points in one place

  • Audit factories in-person or via sourcing agents

  • Build direct relationships with manufacturers

  • Cut out middlemen and reduce procurement costs

From my own experience as CEO of ASKT, I’ve learned that choosing the right furniture city is not just about location—it’s about specialization, factory maturity, and the strength of supporting industries like fabric, hardware, or logistics. Many of our European customers have saved over 15% in annual sourcing costs by simply working with the right regional cluster in China.

Let me walk you through the top regions you should know.

1. Foshan & Shunde (Guangdong): The Global Furniture Hub

Specialty: Comprehensive furniture market (residential, commercial, hotel, and office)

Foshan’s Lecong and Shunde regions form the epicenter of China’s modern furniture manufacturing and trading network. The sheer density of factories, showrooms, and raw material vendors is unmatched globally. The Lecong Furniture Market, covering over 10 kilometers of trading space, offers everything from Scandinavian-inspired minimalism to traditional carved wooden pieces.

If you're a product manager or sourcing director, this region allows you to vet multiple suppliers in one trip. Longjiang is especially known for its upholstery materials, making it ideal for those needing fabric sourcing in addition to final furniture procurement.

At ASKT, we’ve built long-term partnerships with select factories in Foshan and Shunde. We collaborate with them on testing product durability, improving welding precision, and adopting eco-friendly production methods. Our latest dining chair models featuring honeycomb paper packaging were first piloted here.

2. Dongguan (Guangdong): High-End Manufacturing and OEM Base

Specialty: Premium furniture and OEM production for global brands

Dongguan is often regarded as China’s OEM powerhouse—not just for electronics but also for furniture. Towns like Houjie and Daling Shan specialize in export-grade wood and panel furniture. With over 600 exhibitors and thousands of factories, the region is a magnet for sourcing managers focused on quality.

Many Western furniture brands outsource their designs to Dongguan-based manufacturers due to their experience with European and North American standards. These factories are used to producing based on CAD files, conducting load tests, and complying with REACH or FSC guidelines.

ASKT leverages Dongguan’s high-end capabilities for our 360-degree swivel dining chair bases and our pocket spring seat collections. We’ve also invested in robotic welding arms and automated punching stations here to scale production while reducing defect rates.

3. Bazhou & Shengfang (Hebei): Metal, Glass, and Budget Furniture

Specialty: Affordable furniture in metal, glass, MDF, and synthetic leather

Bazhou’s competitive edge lies in its access to low-cost raw materials, such as steel and MDF, and its proximity to Tianjin port. With over 4,000 manufacturers in Shengfang alone, this region is ideal for budget models and volume sourcing.

Products here are geared towards the mass market—think cafe chairs, student desks, banquet seating. While pricing is highly competitive, quality control varies greatly between suppliers.

At ASKT, we station a full-time QC team in this region. Each chair we source from Bazhou undergoes durability, static load, and color fastness testing. We also use this region to implement and refine our plastic-free packaging initiatives—replacing polybags and plastic foam with recyclable alternatives.

4. Anji (Zhejiang): China’s Chair Capital

Specialty: Office chairs, gaming chairs, and dining chairs

Anji is the origin of one-third of the world’s office chairs, and it’s increasingly dominant in the dining chair sector. Factories here have been investing in automation and fabric innovation. From breathable mesh to soft-touch velvet and technical leather, Anji’s offering is constantly evolving.

This is also where ASKT developed ASKT-TEX, our proprietary eco-performance fabric. It’s breathable, waterproof, OEKO-TEX® certified, and made in part from recycled bottles—ideal for European retailers focused on sustainability.

We also conduct our abrasion resistance, stain testing, and anti-scratch validation here. With over 1,700 factories and close proximity to Ningbo and Shanghai ports, Anji remains one of our most strategic sourcing hubs.
